A sociology professor at Harvard University asked himself and did a survey, what was the one common attribute all successful people had, and his answer was: long-term thinking or perspective.
He defined " time perspective" as the amount of time an individual takes into consideration when determining his present actions.
So basically, the two steps to becoming successful is:
1) Look into the future to know your goals.
2) Do everything possible now and sacrifice to achieve that goal in the future.
This practice applies to all areas of your life including your career, your relationships, your marriage and your personal life. When we think of long-term, we think of one word: sacrifice. You have to put off the things that please now so later you gain something even better: success.
Jonathan Longfellow once said that those heights by great men, won and kept were not achieved by sudden flight. But they, while their companions slept, were toiling upwards in the night.
I urge you not to get discouraged if it seems hard at first, because it is. I want you to think better life and reaching your goals, using self-discipline. self-discipline is a trained skill, it does not come naturally so I want you to train yourself.
